According to Mashaba, preliminary investigations revealed that the constable and two accomplices arrived at the shop pretending to conduct an inspection for expired food items. They allegedly threatened the store owner before stealing cash from the till.
Community members managed to apprehend one suspect, while another fled in what was believed to be the getaway vehicle. Shortly after, a man appeared claiming his vehicle had been stolen but later refused to open a case, admitting that the suspect was his friend.
