Police Nab 46-Year-Old Woman With R1 Million Worth Of Mandrax

The Western Cape police have arrested a 46-year-old woman in connection with a massive haul of mandrax tablets worth R1 million in Khayelitsha, Cape Flats.

The arrest was made possible through a stop and-search operation, following a tip-off.

The premises used for the drug operations was allegedly used as a liquor storage facility in T-Block, Sector 6, Site B, Khayelitsha.

Details Of Seizure

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk revealed that upon arrival, officers found the suspect carrying a large green bag containing 10 packets of mandrax tablets each with 1,000 units, and four smaller packets with 100 tablets each.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is R1 million.

The suspect is set to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of drugs.

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile commended community members for sharing valuable information that led to the recovery of the drugs and the arrest of the perpetrator.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, disclosed that, six individuals believed to be Mozambican nationals were arrested in connection with a clandestine laboratory discovered in Standerton, Mpumalanga.
