Police Mpumalanga Rejects Viral Video Claims Linking Nkangala Officers To Drug Trade

Police in Mpumalanga have dismissed allegations circulating in a viral video that accuses officers in the Nkangala district of being involved in drug trafficking.

Authorities maintain that there is recorded evidence of ongoing anti-drug operations in the area and have rejected claims that incidents — including the case in which 54 children fell ill after consuming snacks — were concealed.

The individual responsible for the video has been arrested on a separate charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and has since been released on bail.

Police Cite Evidence Of Successful Anti-Drug Operations

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli said the allegations presented in the video are misleading and contradict verified police work carried out in recent months.

“This information assisted a lot and has led to successful operations by police, resulting in the arrests of suspects and the seizure of illegal substances, both in December 2025 and January 2026, information of which was partially provided by the very same person.

“It is therefore surprising and disturbing to hear the same individual now making statements that undermine the integrity of our officers who diligently responded to the tips he provided,” said Mdhluli.

Police reiterated that the circulating claims do not reflect the reality of law enforcement efforts in Nkangala, stressing that investigations and operations have been conducted based on credible information.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation while maintaining that the integrity of officers involved in anti-drug operations remains intact.
