Police Is Probing How Fannie Nkosi Ended Up With Dockets At His Home

Police are continuing their investigation into how disgraced Sergeant Fannie Nkosi came into possession of official case dockets discovered at his home.
Nkosi appeared in the Pretoria North Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where his bail application was denied. The magistrate ruled that he had failed to demonstrate that his release would be in the interest of justice.
The former officer is facing firearm-related charges after police allegedly uncovered seven firearms and approximately 400 rounds of ammunition during a raid at his residence earlier this month.
Police Investigate How Fannie Nkosi Obtained Sensitive Case Dockets
Nkosi, who previously served as a key witness at the Madlanga Commission, had been accused of acting as an intermediary between senior police officials and alleged crime syndicates.
During the search of his property, police reportedly found six case dockets—four originals and two copies—stored in a Wendy house on the premises.

One of the original dockets is linked to the 2016 robbery of a British American Tobacco truck that was reported missing.
As a result, Nkosi now faces additional charges, including theft of dockets and defeating the ends of justice.
SAPS Welcomes Bail Decision Amid Ongoing Investigation
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that investigations into how Nkosi acquired the dockets are ongoing.
Mathe said police have welcomed the court’s decision to deny Nkosi bail, stating that he poses a direct threat to SAPS operations.
Authorities have indicated that further developments may follow as the probe continues.
