Police Intensifies Manhunt For Killer Of Catholic Priest In Limpopo

Limpopo police have escalated their efforts to capture the assailant responsible for the brutal murder of Father William Banda, a Roman Catholic priest in Tzaneen.
The 38-year-old priest was shot twice in the head after finishing a morning prayer session with church members at the Roman Catholic Church in Aquer Park, Tzaneen, on March 13, 2024.

Details Of Murder Incident
According to Provincial Police Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Thakeng, the murder occurred shortly after the morning prayer session.
It is alleged that Father Banda was followed by an unknown assailant into a changing room, where the priest was shot in cold blood.
The assailant then fled the scene in an unidentified vehicle.

The suspect is described as wearing black trousers, a brown shirt, and a waistcoat.

Eyewitnesses report the assailant having a clean black haircut and a small goatee beard, which has been used to create an identikit to assist in the investigation.
Appeal For Public Assistance
Limpopo police are urging the public to help identify the suspect.

Authorities have released the identikit image and appealed to anyone with information to contact the authority immediately.

“We are appealing to anyone who may know the whereabouts of the suspect, or who can assist in any way, to come forward,” said Lieutenant Colonel Thakeng.
SAPS have requested those with useful information to contact Colonel Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501, Warrant Officer Phaladi Makola at 082 749 2233, or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
