Police Detective Caught Red-Handed Packing Cocaine In Alleged Drug Den

A 41-year-old police officer from Belhar SAPS appeared in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court today after being caught allegedly packaging cocaine inside a suspected drug house over the weekend.
The officer, who works as a detective, was arrested by members of Operation Restore in Navara Street, Belhar, while reportedly handling multiple packets of the illicit substance.
Cops Shocked to Find Their Own Among Drug Suspects
According to sources, officers executing the raid were stunned to discover the suspect’s police ID among the seized items. “They got a moerse skrik when they realised they were arresting one of their own,” an insider revealed. The officer was allegedly caught in possession of a scale and drug-packaging materials, raising suspicions of direct involvement in the local narcotics trade.

Belhar is known for being contested territory between rival gangs, including the Sexy Boys and Junior Mafias. It remains unclear who owns the house where the officer was arrested.
Authorities, Community React to Corruption Within SAPS
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the arrest, stating: “The suspect was found with 11 packets of cocaine and is also facing a charge of failing to safeguard a firearm.” Following the arrest, the officer’s service weapon was confiscated, and he was detained at Delft SAPS.
The Belhar Community Police Forum (CPF) has called for a briefing with the station commander. CPF spokesperson Shireen Nordien stated, “This is a very serious matter, and we will be requesting a formal update on the situation.”

Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais, welcomed the arrest, emphasising that officers who break the law must face the consequences. “It remains a concern when SAPS members find themselves on the wrong side of the law. The law must now take its course,” Marais said.
The case has sparked outrage among residents, who expect swift action against corrupt officers involved in criminal activities.
