Podcast and Chill is once again facing public outrage, this time over comments made about the discovery of eight women's bodies in Kempton Park and the death of Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo.

A clip from the show's latest episode began circulating on X on 15 September 2026, sparking widespread condemnation of hosts MacG and Sol Phenduka.

What Was Said On Podcast And Chill

The 38-year-old Moselakgomo had gone missing on 9 September after leaving her Rhodesfield home for a routine run. The episode was recorded while she was still missing, but by the time it aired, her body had already been found and identified by her family on 14 September.

Despite the tragic outcome, MacG remarked, "You'd think the lady would keep on running," suggesting she could have escaped her attacker.

Phenduka followed with, "Sometimes you're running, and someone just comes from the woods, from the darkness, and they snatch you," before appearing to reference a rival podcast's viewership struggles by joking that Moselakgomo may have been targeted because of the race number pinned to her chest: "They see numbers on your chest and snatch you. Someone in the woods saw her number and thought, 'I'm taking her!'"

Mzansi Reacts To Podcast And Chill Backlash

The clip triggered a wave of anger online, with many arguing that joking about a missing or murdered woman is never acceptable — especially given South Africa's ongoing crisis of gender-based violence. Critics called for the show to face formal consequences, with @ClixWell asking whether podcasts "can be reported to the BCCSA," and @softsgora urging others to "report these people" rather than simply disengage.

Others took aim at the hosts' broader track record and credibility on gender issues. @SoftMaryyy argued the podcast is "built on belittling, bullying and humiliating women," while @Nomaswazi_11 linked the remarks to patterns of behaviour among the hosts, writing that this "is why we have the level of violent crime we have."

@aviwematandela6 pointed out that Phenduka is "raising daughters," questioning how he could make such comments, and @WizzyWa referenced past criticism of the show from Julius Malema, saying "everything is just vibes and jokes for them."

Further reactions included @Teletubbi_Musfa calling the podcast "disgusting," @IamRatedL asking Phenduka directly, "surely you know this is wrong?", and @onthatile_re calling the comments "so insensitive" and branding Phenduka "a very weird person."
