Piketberg Family Shattered As Brother Kills Sibling Over UIF Payout

A Piketberg family is in mourning after a tragic incident where a brother fatally stabbed his own sibling in a dispute over money.

The 24-year-old victim, Mornay Adams, was allegedly murdered in his sleep by his older brother, Heinrich Adams, during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Murder Over UIF & Bonus Payout?

According to a family member, Mornay had received money from his former employer after finishing the farm season at Lac du Soleil and had also collected his Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) payout.

“The victim, who was also a prophet, had worked on a farm, got his bonus, and then his UIF payment,” the relative said.

The two brothers were once close, but tensions reportedly escalated over financial issues.

Police Confirm Arrest & Investigation

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that Piketberg detectives are investigating a case of murder.

“According to reports, the suspect and victim had an argument before the fatal stabbing.

“Officers arrived at the Starking Street crime scene, where they found the victim with multiple stab wounds to his body. He was declared dead by medical personnel.”

Twigg confirmed that a 32-year-old suspect was arrested later that evening and appeared in the Piketberg Magistrate’s Court on March 18 on a murder charge.
