Pearl Thusi Faces Backlash Over Resurfaced Video Mocking Bonang Matheba Amid Cyberbullying Outcry

Mzansi is not letting Pearl Thusi off the hook! A resurfaced 2016 video has fans calling the actress-turned-DJ out for mocking Bonang Matheba during her domestic violence scandal with DJ Euphonik.
In the video, Pearl and socialite Linda Moeketsi are seen laughing and asking for “Nonke” T-shirts – a phrase Euphonik coined after calling Bonang “Hlanyo” (crazy) during their very public fallout.
To make things worse, Pearl and Linda joked: “I’m Hlanyo, he’s Hlanyo, we’re all Hlanyos! We love you, Euphonik. Spice levels on a million!”

At the time, Pearl was close friends with DJ Zinhle, who was still healing from her breakup with AKA, who left her for Bonang. It seems Pearl inherited her bestie’s beef and made it her mission to drag Bonang at every turn.
Fast forward to 2024, Pearl recently spoke about being cyberbullied, but Mzansi wasn’t having it. Social media users quickly reminded her of her past, branding her a hypocrite who can dish it out but can’t take it.
I’ll never understand sometimes the level of hate and disrespect I get here. I just live my life, and how that upset so many people I’ve realised is not my concern to understand.
But if lying and dragging my name makes you happy, I’m glad I brought that short lived happiness.…

What Mzansi Is Saying:
@TheTitanBaddie: “Mocking a GBV survivor with her abuser’s words? That’s beyond petty – it’s cruel.”
@PetiteEbonyGirl: “Pearl, you wore a ‘Hlanyo’ shirt and laughed at Bonang. Now you want sympathy? Nah, girl. Accountability first.”
@Sedeaux_S: “She dragged Bonang for years and now wants us to feel sorry for her? The audacity.”
@FaithMasilela2: “Pearl has always been dark. There’s no class in mocking a domestic violence survivor.”

But it doesn’t stop there. Some fans also pointed out Pearl’s controversial history of shading Bonang on live TV during her show with Phat Joe, which seemed dedicated to dragging the media queen.
Pearl Thusi Facing Karma?
While some believe Pearl is finally getting her karma, others argue that the constant reminders of her past are unfair and overdone. Still, the general consensus is clear: social media never forgets, and Pearl’s record is not clean.

Will Pearl address these resurfaced allegations? Or will she keep it moving? Either way, Mzansi has the popcorn ready for the next chapter.
What’s your take on this drama? Is Pearl being unfairly targeted, or does she deserve the backlash?
