Pearl Thusi Defends Chidinma Adetshina Against Cyberbullying Amid Miss SA Controversy

In a series of recent events, South African actress Pearl Thusi has slammed the cyberbullying directed at Chidinma Adetshina, a contestant in Miss South Africa 2024.

Adetshina has been facing a torrent of online hate primarily due to her mixed roots—her father is Nigerian, which has become a point of contention for some critics.

Things took a sour turn when over 11,000 individuals signed a petition demanding Chidinma be removed from the competition.

The petition argues that her mixed heritage disqualifies her from representing South Africa. However, Pearl Thusi, alongside other celebrities like Rouge, Prince Kaybee, Nota Baloyi, Rolene Strauss, and DJ Sbu, has come to Adetshina’s defence, advocating for her right to compete.

In a video shared online, Thusi emphasized that Chidinma is as South African as anyone else born in the country. She compared the situation to a man who saved a baby in France but only got acknowledged as French after his heroic act.

Thusi argued that nationality should not hinge on public perceptions or misguided petitions but rather on the legal and ethical standards of citizenship.
