Parents Demand Action After Teacher’s Sexual Abuse At School

Parents are speaking out and demanding justice, after a teacher at a local school was allegedly involved in sexual abuse with a pupil.

The parents have  demanded that the education department take swift and decisive action to address the matter.

Parents’ Protest

A group of parents gathered to protest the alleged abuse, calling for greater transparency and accountability from the school and the education department.

Neema Keshav, a parent, expressed her concerns, saying, “We send our children to school so they can have a brighter future, but this causes a great darkness over that dream.”

Dinesh Ramsunder, another parent, added, “To have an alleged sexual perpetrator in the same school as your child is of great concern.”

Call For Action

Alicia Kissoon, ward 23 councillor, said the education department must communicate clearly and act decisively to address the matter with sensitivity and integrity.

Thirona Moodley, CEO of Naptosa in KZN, condemned any act of sexual grooming or advances of a sexual nature between a teacher and pupil, emphasizing that teachers are supposed to protect pupils, not exploit them.

Investigation

The case has been opened, and an investigation is underway.

Parents are urging the authorities to act swiftly and ensure that justice is served.

As one parent noted, “The education department needs to move faster when dealing with such issues and be more transparent, as this is our children’s lives that are being compromised.”
