Outstanding DNA Reports Delay Rape Case Against Dobsonville Pastor

The rape case against 56-year-old Soweto preacher Tshepo Ntsimane has been postponed until July due to outstanding investigations.

Ntsimane appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Wednesday facing allegations that he sexually violated a 12-year-old girl at his home in Dobsonville during the Easter weekend.

DNA And Toxicology Reports Outstanding In Dobsonville Rape Case

Magistrate Thelma Simpson confirmed that several parts of the investigation were still incomplete. These include DNA and toxicology reports as well as the analysis of a video allegedly linked to the case.

The footage, which reportedly shows the victim naked and bleeding after the alleged assault, was widely circulated on social media. Authorities are continuing to analyse the material as part of the investigation.

“It seems the video footage, as indicated by your attorney may still be outstanding, but that will be controlled and addressed by the advocates dealing with the matter, who will direct the investigating officer going forward,” Simpson said.

Pastor Tshepo Ntsimane Remains Behind Bars

Ntsimane has been in custody since his arrest in April and again informed the court that he would not be applying for bail at this stage.

“It’s noted that you are not proceeding with your bail application as you instructed your attorney. That right to proceed with the bail application you will not lose,” Simpson told the accused.

The magistrate further expressed hope that forensic laboratories would prioritise the outstanding analysis to avoid further delays in the case.

Dobsonville Pastor Expected Back In Court In July

The matter has now been postponed to 1 July while investigations continue. Prosecutors are expected to proceed once all forensic and evidentiary reports have been finalised.

The case has drawn significant public attention following allegations surrounding the assault and the circulation of the alleged video online.

Ntsimane remains in police custody pending his next court appearance.
