Outrage As 14-Year-Old Girl Stabbed To Death By Stepfather

The murder of a 14-year-old girl in Ga-Thoka village, near Mankweng, has sparked outrage and renewed calls for action against gender-based violence (GBV). The young victim was stabbed multiple times on Friday morning while walking to school with a classmate.
Stepfather Arrested After Deadly Attack
A 48-year-old man, the girl’s stepfather, has been arrested in connection with the brutal crime. According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the suspect ambushed the girl and launched a violent attack using a sharp object.

“The suspect attacked and stabbed her several times with a sharp object and left her helplessly on the road,” Ledwaba confirmed.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but the girl was pronounced dead. She was still in her school uniform when police arrived.
The attack took place near the Ga-Thoka sports ground. Reports indicate that the suspect brutally stabbed the victim following an argument with her mother the night before.

Court Appearance and Additional Charges
The man appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court today, facing charges of premeditated murder, intimidation, and arson.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the provincial police commissioner, has strongly condemned the killing and urged communities to act against domestic violence.
“We cannot tolerate such acts of violence,” Hadebe stated. “We urge communities to report domestic violence incidents before they escalate to tragic levels. Speak up, seek help, and break the cycle of violence.”
