Operation Dudula Responds After EFF Opens Criminal Case Over Child’s Death

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has filed a criminal complaint against Operation Dudula following allegations that the group was involved in the death of a one-year-old child in Alexandra.

The child’s Malawian mother, Grace Banda, said members of the movement blocked her from entering a local clinic where she sought medical help for her child.

Gauteng Health Department Investigates the Allegation Against Operation Dudula

The Gauteng Health Department has confirmed that it is investigating the allegations. Banda reported that the group’s members stationed at the Alexandra clinic turned her away as she tried to access urgent treatment for her sick child.

The leader of the group, Zandile Dabula, has distanced the organisation from the incident, stating that its members were not present at the clinic on the day.

Dabula added: “Remember, at that time, I responded because there was no case opened against me, but now that there is a case, let’s just respect that and let the law take its course. Investigations must be done and we will see what the outcomes will be.”

However, there are photos and videos circulating on the internet showing the group preventing sick foreign nationals from accessing clinics regardless of their immigration status.
