Courier Worker Kills Armed Robber In Failed Gugulethu Hijack

An attempted hijacking in Gugulethu on Thursday morning ended in deadly gunfire when a courier’s assistant opened fire on armed robbers, killing one suspect and injuring another.
Police confirmed that the incident took place on Godongwana Street in Lusaka, Gugulethu, at around 10:10 a.m.
Courier Team Fights Back
According to police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, two armed men targeted a delivery vehicle belonging to an independent courier company. The suspects allegedly robbed the driver and his assistant of their cellphones and attempted to hijack the vehicle.
“The driver’s assistant retaliated and shot at the group of males, fatally wounding an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the chest and injuring a 19-year-old male,” Van Wyk said.

The injured suspect was taken to a nearby hospital under police guard for treatment.
Police recovered a 9mm firearm without a serial number next to the deceased suspect.
