One Shot Dead, Others Wounded During ATM Robbery At Fuel Station In North West

Tragedy struck a fuel station in Broederstroom, North West, early yesterday morning when a large group of ATM robbers targeted the establishment.
The incident resulted in the death of one individual and several others being wounded. Reports indicate that the robbers used explosives to bomb an ATM, causing significant damage.

Security officers swiftly responded to the scene after three explosions were heard at the Shell fuel station shortly after midnight. However, as they approached the location, a team of SRU High-Risk Security Officers was ambushed by an unknown number of gunmen.
The officers’ vehicles were repeatedly fired upon, forcing them to return fire. Unfortunately, one officer sustained multiple gunshot wounds, preventing them from reaching the site of the ATM bombing.
AEQUITAS Security promptly arrived to provide backup support after the SRU called for assistance. Tragically, during the chaos, two individuals in a separate vehicle were also hit by the robbers’ gunfire.

A man lost his life, while a woman sustained a gunshot wound. Meanwhile, the robbers successfully detonated the ATM at the Shell fuel station and managed to escape with an undisclosed amount of money.
Although unconfirmed by the police, it has been reported that the body of one of the suspected robbers was discovered at the scene. Hartbeespoort police are currently investigating the incident. SurgeZirc SA has reached out to the police for additional information.
