Alexandra Argument Turns Deadly As One Killed And Six Injured In Shooting

One person has died and six others were injured following a shooting in Alexandra during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police said the violence erupted in 6th Avenue between John Brand and Hofmeyer Street after an argument between two individuals escalated. The incident left seven people wounded before emergency services rushed them to a nearby medical facility.

Authorities have since launched a manhunt for the suspect involved in the shooting.

Alexandra Shooting Leaves One Dead And Six Injured

According to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the confrontation began as a dispute between two people on the street.

“It is reported that the two individuals were arguing on the street when one of them allegedly drew a firearm and started shooting randomly, leaving seven people injured,” she said.

The victims were transported to a local clinic for medical treatment. One of the injured individuals was declared dead on arrival, while the remaining six received treatment for their wounds.

Police Open Murder And Attempted Murder Case After Alexandra Shooting

Police have registered a murder case as well as six counts of attempted murder following the deadly incident.

Nevhuhulwi said investigators are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting. Detectives are also following leads in an effort to identify and locate the suspect.

No arrests had been announced at the time of publication.

Authorities are urging members of the public who may have information about the shooting to come forward.
