The court found him guilty of repeatedly raping his stepdaughter over a two-year period, beginning in 2017 when the victim was just 10 years old. The man exploited his position of trust, using threats to maintain a veil of secrecy around his horrific crimes.

Provincial police spokesperson Ivan Magerman confirmed the details, stating, “The court heard that the accused began abusing the victim when she was only 10 years old. The abuse continued for several years, during which he threatened to separate the child from her mother if she revealed the crimes.”

The prolonged abuse had devastating consequences, resulting in the child becoming pregnant at the age of 13. This pregnancy was a direct result of the repeated rape, ultimately leading to the discovery of the crimes and the man’s arrest.

Police spokesperson Ivan Magerman praised the sentencing, emphasizing its role as a deterrent. “This sentence reflects the seriousness of these heinous crimes and serves as a strong deterrent to potential offenders,” Magerman said.

“It also demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable children and ensuring that perpetrators of crimes against minors face the full consequences of the law.”
