Nine Armed Suspects Robs Jewellery Store In Broad Daylight,Exchange Fire With Police

A manhunt has been launched by the police following a daring armed robbery at a jewellery store in Vincent Park Mall, East London, on Thursday.

The robbery, carried out by a group of nine masked suspects, has left authorities searching for leads.

Detectives from the Provincial Serious Crime Investigation Unit have taken over the case, with arrests potentially imminent.

Robbery Details

The suspects, all male, stormed the jewellery store with face masks and gloves, overwhelming the employees and taking high-value jewellery and watches.

Despite the store’s smoke alarm being triggered, the criminals continued their heist undeterred.

The store manager managed to activate a panic button, causing a smoke screen, but the suspects escaped with the stolen goods. “The smoke had no effect on the suspects,” said Police Spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana.

Suspects Fire Shots During Escaped Pursuit

After the robbery, the suspects fled in two vehicles: a white VW Jetta and a Toyota Corolla.

They also stole a 9mm pistol loaded with 18 rounds from a security guard.

In their escape, the suspects fired shots at a security vehicle after struggling to exit the mall’s boom gate.

A security officer was also targeted in a subsequent shooting as the suspects made their way toward Cambridge. Although no injuries were reported.

Police Call For Public Assistance

A case of business robbery, robbery with a firearm, and two counts of attempted murder has been opened.

The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation
