WATCH: Ngizwe Mchunu Drags Somizi In Anti-Gay Rant, Declares War On LGBTQ+ Community

Former Ukhozi FM presenter Ngizwe Mchunu is trending for all the wrong reasons after dropping a wild homophobic rant online.
In a self-recorded video, Ngizwe bashed the LGBTQ+ community, declaring that men dating men are “the cause of the country’s problems” — and even went as far as saying Somizi Mhlongo must “leave the country with his nation.”

And if that wasn’t enough, Ngizwe proudly promised that gays and lesbians would now face open discrimination.
His fury was reportedly triggered by a gay couple tying the knot in traditional Zulu attire — something he claims should be “forbidden.”
Mzansi Drags Ngizwe Mchunu: “See You in Court”
The clip spread like wildfire across X, with social media users slamming his hate speech and calling for accountability:
- @Sakhilemngadi: “We have already begun the process of taking him to the Equality Court and the @SAHRCommission. Various organisations are coming together to deal with this violent hate speech.”
- @lindo_mnisi: “I predict ijele (prison) for this video. Who wants to bet?”
- @skhonza_za: “@SAHRCommission @CGE_ZA here’s your person. Homophobia has no place in a democratic South Africa.”
- @ndumnyandu: “Manje uSomizi ungenaphi ku lendaba ay uNgizwe 😂😂😂😂”
- @kmphathe: “LGBTQ does not want to be criticised and we are in a country with freedom of speech.”
- @kane_gm9: “Some ‘straight’ men are so loud like Ngizwe, because when they speak soft they expose their gayness. Same with Nigerians — loud on the streets, but in corners? Different story. Don’t ask how I know, I just know.”
“Freedom of Speech” or Straight-Up Hate Speech?
Ngizwe’s comments have divided the timeline — with some hiding behind “freedom of speech” and others insisting this is not just opinion, but dangerous rhetoric.

Calls for legal action are already mounting, with equality bodies tagged left, right and centre.
Whether Ngizwe will double down or backtrack remains to be seen, but one thing is certin 2025, South Africa is not about to let homophobia slide unchecked.
