A Witbank businessman, Mahesh Sing, was reportedly kidnapped after receiving a call from someone claiming to be a technician.
The caller stated that they needed to fix an electrical fault at Sing’s business. According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, Sing received the call on Tuesday and decided to go to the business site the following morning.

On Wednesday, three individuals arrived at the scene in a grey Ford Kuga. The registration numbers of their vehicle were found to be cloned. Two armed men, with their faces covered, forced Sing into the vehicle and drove off towards Kriel. Sing’s own vehicle was left behind at the scene.
During the journey, the kidnappers dropped Sing’s cell phone, which has since been recovered by the police. Authorities are now working tirelessly to locate Sing, and they are urging anyone with information about the suspects to come forward.

Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the provincial commissioner of police in Mpumalanga, has assembled a multidisciplinary team of experts to investigate the case and ensure the safe return of Mahesh Sing.
