
In a shocking turn of events, a 33-year-old man from North West finds himself facing a charge of murder after a parking lot brawl in Klerksdorp took a fatal turn. The video footage shows one man lying on the ground, bleeding profusely, as bystanders desperately try to intervene. It is a disturbing scene that highlights the violent nature of the altercation that took place on 2 September in the parking area of a shopping centre in Doornkruin.

Wernich Botha, the alleged assailant, was arrested the day after the incident and initially faced charges of attempted murder and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The victims, aged 44 and 32, were both taken to a local hospital for treatment. While the older male was discharged after being treated for a concussion and shoulder injury, the 32-year-old victim remained in hospital.

Tragically, the 32-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Wednesday. The cause of death was determined to be a brain injury resulting from the alleged attack. This devastating outcome has left family and friends grieving, and the community demanding justice.
Botha, who was granted bail of R2000 in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court, is now facing a more severe charge of murder. He is expected to reappear before the court on 19 October.
