This past Friday, a tragic incident unfolded in Mdantsane leading to the deaths of three young children. Authorities suspect food poisoning as a result of consuming instant porridge purchased from a local supermarket.
Immediate health and safety measures were implemented, with the Buffalo City Metro urging all supermarkets and spaza shops to conduct thorough inspections of their products, particularly the implicated instant porridge.

In light of the incident, the Buffalo City Metro mobilized a comprehensive response involving metro health inspectors, the South African Police Service, and other relevant health authorities.
Following the report of four children being rushed to the hospital, three tragically succumbed, while the fourth child was stabilized and discharged. The supermarket associated with the allegedly contaminated porridge has been temporarily closed, and all batches of the product have been removed from circulation for further examination.
