In a tragic crash on Sunday evening, five children were declared dead in Brackenfell, Cape Town. The accident occurred on the R300 highway in Brackenfell, shortly after 11 pm, when a bakkie (utility vehicle) overturned.
Russel Meiring, the spokesperson for ER24, reported that several other individuals were also injured in the crash.

“ER24 and other emergency services arrived at the scene after 11 pm to find the bakkie upright on the central median. Numerous patients, including children, were found scattered around,” Meiring stated.
Medical professionals evaluated the patients and discovered that five children, ranging in age from one to seven, had sustained fatal injuries.
Despite all efforts, nothing could be done to save them, and they were declared dead.

Six additional patients, including children, were assessed and were found to have injuries ranging from minor to critical.
Paramedics provided immediate treatment and advanced life support to the critically injured before transporting them to nearby hospitals for further care.
