A crash on the N3 Durban bound between Cato Ridge and Hammarsdale involving multiple vehicles has claimed the life of a woman and injured 18 other individuals.
The accident occurred at 5.30am on Saturday and resulted in the closure of the highway.

According to ALS Paramedics Medical Services, who responded to the incident, the scene was characterized by severe damage as two trucks and a fully occupied taxi had collided, necessitating the closure of the national route.
A woman in her forties sustained critical injuries and could not be saved by the paramedics.
Eighteen other people with injuries ranging from moderate to serious were stabilized at the scene and subsequently transported to various hospitals.

The national route remained closed for approximately one-and-a-half hours while emergency personnel worked to clear the area.
The cause of the accident is currently unknown, and the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) were present at the scene to investigate.
