In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Ga-Marishane Dihlaganeng in Limpopo’s Sekhukhune district, the bodies of a 38-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were discovered at their residence.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, confirmed that the husband and wife were found dead on separate days.

The discovery was made after neighbours reported a foul smell emanating from the house. Upon arrival, the police found the doors locked and received no response when they knocked.
They were forced to enter the premises, where they found the man hanging from the roof in an advanced state of decomposition. Inside the house, they also found a three-year-old girl, the couple’s daughter, who was immediately taken to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
Subsequently, the police found a suicide note in the house. During their search, they noticed a shallow grave filled with firewood near the property.
Upon further investigation, they discovered the body of the woman wrapped in blankets, also in an advanced state of decomposition.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Johannes Mahlaba, 38, and Magabjane Cecilia Maila, 34. A postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of their deaths.
In response to this tragic incident, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, has expressed her condemnation and urged couples experiencing domestic problems to seek help from professionals to prevent such unnecessary loss of life.
