According to the police, these suspects are believed to be part of a syndicate responsible for car hijackings in the Gauteng area. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are actively searching for any additional suspects involved in this heinous crime.

The arrested individuals are expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Friday, where they will face charges related to the murder of Luke Fleurs.

Masondo provided details of the shooting incident that led to Fleurs’ untimely death. Fleurs was driving a red VW Golf 8 GTI and had stopped at a petrol station on 14th Avenue and Hendrik Potgieter. While waiting for assistance from the petrol attendant, he was confronted by two armed males in a white BMW 1 Series.

“The suspects pointed a firearm at him, forced him out of his vehicle, and shot him once in the upper body,” explained Masondo. One of the suspects then fled the scene in Fleurs’ car, while the other followed in the BMW. Fleurs was rushed to the nearest medical care center but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

This senseless act of violence has left the community and the football fraternity in shock and mourning. Luke Fleurs was a promising young talent, and his loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.

The police are urging anyone with information that may aid in the investigation or lead to the apprehension of additional suspects to come forward. If you have any relevant information, please contact your nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
