On Tuesday evening, at approximately 7:05 pm, Marshall Security’s Greater Westmead Association (GWA) tactical officers and armed response units were on routine patrol on Malcolm Road in Westmead. During this routine, they detected a man signaling for help from the back of a moving Hyundai H100 delivery vehicle.
Tyron Powell, Managing Director of Marshall Security, reported that their teams acted without hesitation and immediately pursued the vehicle while contacting Pinetown SAPS for urgent assistance.
The coordination between Marshall Security and Pinetown SAPS was swift, resulting in the interception of the vehicle at the intersection of Westmead Road and Albert Road.
Upon interception, two suspects attempted to flee on foot. However, their escape was short-lived due to the rapid response from the combined law enforcement teams. After a brief chase, both suspects were successfully apprehended.
According to Powell, further investigation revealed that the man in the back of the vehicle, along with his friends, had been hijacked outside a well-known service station on Malcolm Road.
