Porsche Executive Jailed For Throwing Her Newborn Baby Out The Window, In Fears She Might Ruin Her Career

However, the prosecution argued otherwise, alleging that she deliberately concealed her pregnancy from colleagues and neighbours.

A lawyer has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison after a tragic incident in Germany where she threw her newborn daughter out of a window.

Katarina Jovanovic, an executive at Porsche, reportedly took this drastic action because she feared motherhood would derail her career.

The Heilbronn District Court heard how Jovanovic, from Lauffen am Neckar in Baden-Wuerttemberg state, gave birth on September 12, 2023, without having informed anyone of her pregnancy.

According to Mail Online, she dropped her minutes-old daughter from her flat, leading to the baby landing on the windowsill where a passer-by eventually found her.

Jovanovic admitted to the crime at the beginning of her trial in April but failed to provide a clear explanation of the events. She claimed she had not realized she was pregnant.

However, the prosecution argued otherwise, alleging that she deliberately concealed her pregnancy from colleagues and neighbours. Prosecutor Mareike Hafendoerfer contended that Jovanovic was unwilling to put her professional advancement on hold for a child, fulfilling the criteria for a murder conviction.

Jovanovic’s lawyer, Malte Hoech, argued that she accidentally dropped the baby after giving birth alone at home, unaware of her pregnancy.

He claimed that she was in an exceptional psychological state and that the incident was an accident. Hoech argued that she should be charged with manslaughter instead of murder, emphasizing the dramatic and personal nature of the case.
