Police Officers Assist Stranded Woman In Giving Birth On Roadside

Upon arrival, the police officers discovered that the ambulance was on its way and the woman was already in the advanced stages of labour.

Two police officers from Secunda, South Africa, have been praised for their exceptional dedication after they assisted a stranded woman in giving birth on the side of a road.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday on the P138 in Secunda, according to Captain Magonseni Nkosi, a police spokesperson.

Constables Prudence Diwe and Jabulani Shongwe were dispatched to the scene after the Secunda police radio control received an alert about a couple in need of assistance next to their motorbike.

The husband informed the police that his wife was in labour and they were en route to the hospital. However, due to the worsening situation, they had to pull over on the roadside. Secunda radio control promptly contacted medical personnel to dispatch an ambulance to the scene.

Upon arrival, the police officers discovered that the ambulance was on its way and the woman was already in the advanced stages of labour.

Without hesitation, the officers stepped in and provided the necessary support for the woman to deliver her baby boy safely. Captain Nkosi stated, “When medical personnel arrived at the scene, the mother and baby were taken to the hospital.”

The actions of Constables Diwe and Shongwe exemplify their commitment to public service and their willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. Their prompt response and assistance in a critical situation undoubtedly played a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of both the mother and the newborn.
