Pastor Mboro shocked both his community and the nation at large when videos surfaced showing him brandishing a panga and escorted by an armed entourage as he entered the school.
One of his private bodyguards escalated the situation by entering the premises, scaring pupils, and exiting with two crying children believed to be Mboro’s grandchildren.
The pastor’s aggressive actions provoked significant backlash, culminating in a protest by schoolchildren and community members.
The ensuing outrage led to the burning of Mboro’s church marquee tent by furious community members. In court on Wednesday, Mboro, listed as accused number 1, maintained a subdued demeanour during his brief appearance.
He wore a grey wool jersey and blue jeans, while his son and bodyguard were dressed in black coats. The trio faces numerous charges including kidnapping, possession of a dangerous weapon, discharging of a firearm, pointing a firearm, assault by way of threats, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm, and malicious damage to property.
