
Over 70 people have been injured in a serious crash involving two buses occurred near the entrance of the University of Johannesburg’s Kingsway campus, on Tuesday morning.
According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, initial reports indicated that 77 individuals were hurt in the accident.

Both buses suffered significant damage in the collision. “One bus was found overturned and lying on its side, blocking the entire roadway. The second bus collided with a concrete structure,” said Van Reenen.
The injured were swiftly taken to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention. Van Reenen stated, “Several patients sustained injuries, ranging from minor to serious. Our emergency teams set up a triage area at the scene and dispatched additional resources to assist.”

Rescue efforts were carried out diligently, with specialized hydraulic equipment, including the jaws-of-life, used to rescue several patients. The Johannesburg Fire Department provided valuable assistance during the rescue operations.
On-scene paramedics worked tirelessly to stabilize the injured before transporting them to nearby hospitals by ambulance for further medical care. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
