On Saturday night, a tragic accident took place at the corner of Umgeni and Quarry roads in Durban, resulting in one fatality and five injuries.
The collision involved a bakkie and a car, creating a chaotic scene that paramedics had to quickly respond to.
According to Advanced Life Support Paramedic Garith Jamieson, paramedics arrived on the scene only to find chaos.

They discovered that two vehicles had collided at the junction, leading to one vehicle losing control and overturning, coming to rest on its roof. A quick triage was performed, revealing that the bakkie had five occupants, while the second vehicle had only one.
Upon assessment, it was found that a male from the bakkie, believed to be in his 40s, had sustained major injuries, and despite the paramedics’ efforts, he was declared dead at the scene.

The other four occupants of the bakkie had various injuries and were stabilized before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care. The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries.
