Several people are receiving treatment from emergency services (EMS) following a major multi-truck collision on the N3 southbound at Nottingham Road in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. Midlands EMS reported the accident occurred at approximately 6am on Friday.
According to the Midlands EMS, many trucks were involved in the collision, leading to several patients being treated at the scene by paramedics. Due to the severity of the crash, the roadway has been closed.

While the cause of the accident is still under investigation, TrafficSA reported on X that a possible diesel or oil spill may have resulted in slippery road conditions. The N3 Toll Concession has advised motorists to delay trips to the area because of the heavy traffic congestion.
As of 11am, traffic was backed up almost to the Mooi Plaza, with clean-up efforts underway. Johannesburg-bound traffic is flowing, but all Durban-bound lanes remain obstructed.
