Recently, new allegations have emerged against singer Kelly Khumalo, suggesting her involvement in the murder of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa.

These damning allegations came to light during a court hearing at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria. Magistrate Vivian Cronje recorded a confession statement from accused Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, who implicated Khumalo and several others in the crime.

Ntanzi’s confession statement was taken on June 24, 2020, a week after his arrest. This was the second confession statement presented in court, with the first one being read on Friday by Lieutenant Colonel Solomon Raphadu.

In his statement, Ntanzi expressed fear for his safety and requested protection, as he claimed to have been threatened by the other accused after the murder.

Ntanzi named Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Ntuli as the individuals he accompanied to Khumalo’s house in Vosloorus to commit the murder. It is important to note that all accused parties have pleaded not guilty.

According to Ntanzi’s confession, he received a call from Ntuli while he was in Carltonville, instructing him to meet at the Basotho Hostel in Vosloorus on the evening of October 26, 2014. Upon arrival, a meeting was held to discuss the plan to carry out the hit on Meyiwa.

Ntanzi mentioned that Carlos (Mncube) and Maphisa called Kelly Khumalo to inform her of their arrival. The group then left in a Polo Vivo, consisting of Ntanzi, Carlos, Mthokoziseni, Sifiso, and Muzi.

During their journey to Khumalo’s house, they obtained two additional guns from a man named Simphiwe. Ntanzi stated that Mncube received a call from Khumalo, referring to her as “sistas,” which was simply a confirmation of their arrival.

According to Ntanzi’s confession, Ntuli served as the driver, Sibiya was the lookout, and Maphisa stood by the window outside the house. Meanwhile, Ntanzi and Mncube entered the house.

Once inside, Mncube pulled out his gun and ordered everyone to lie down while demanding phones and money. Ntanzi was given a phone by Carlos, and he noticed a plastic container on the table with money.

Carlos handed him the container, which Ntanzi placed in a plastic bag. Ntanzi stated that Carlos seemed to know where the desired item was located and was about to open it when Meyiwa stood up. A scuffle ensued between Meyiwa and Carlos, as it appeared that Meyiwa wanted to prevent Carlos from taking what he wanted.

Ntanzi’s confession further states that Khumalo directed Carlos to the location of the item he sought. Tragically, during the scuffle between Meyiwa and Mncube, Meyiwa was fatally shot.

Two shots were fired, with one hitting him in the chest and exiting through his back. After the shots were fired, Ntanzi ran back to the getaway car, followed by the others, and they drove off. Ntanzi mentioned that Mncube continued to threaten him in the car, warning him not to disclose any information about the incident.

Mncube claimed that he would come after Ntanzi if he spoke out and even mentioned that there were individuals who knew Ntanzi’s parental home and would reveal its location to him.

Ntanzi stated that he was paid a total of R45,000 in two instalments, with R15,000 given to him on the same evening as the murder, and the remaining R30,000 provided at a later date. The incident deeply affected Ntanzi, prompting him to change his cellphone number upon returning to Carltonville to avoid further threats from the other accused.

Prior to Ntanzi’s confession, Colonel Lambertus Steyn, an analyst at the Cold Case Unit, testified in court. He revealed that cellphone records indicated communication between Khumalo and accused individual number five, Ntuli, on October 15, 2014, at 5:33 PM, during a 98-second phone call.

This communication occurred at least 11 days before the murder of Meyiwa took place. The records also showed contact between Khumalo and Ntuli on Khumalo’s number, 082 704 ****.

These allegations and the subsequent confession have shed new light on the investigation into the murder of Senzo Meyiwa. The court case continues as the accused parties maintain their plea of not guilty, and further evidence is presented to determine the truth behind these shocking allegations.
