Justice Minister Ronald Lamola has approved and transmitted a request by South Africa for the extradition of murder suspects Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande from Eswatini.
The request was made in accordance with the extradition treaty between South Africa and Eswatini, as well as the SADC Protocol on Extradition, to which both countries are signatories.
According to spokesperson Chrispin Phiri, the Ministry of Justice stands ready to cooperate with its counterparts in Eswatini. The Ndimande brothers are among the suspects linked to the murder of popular South African rapper AKA and his friend, chef and author Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, in Durban last February.
The brothers were arrested on February 24 at a house in Eswatini. In South Africa, their co-accused, including Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, Lindani Shishela Ndimande, Siyanda Myeza, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, and Lindokuhle “Lindo” Ndimande, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and five counts of attempted murder.
This development marks a significant step in the pursuit of justice for the victims and their families. The extradition process will ensure that the suspects are brought back to South Africa to face trial and answer for their alleged crimes.
The cooperation between South Africa and Eswatini in this matter demonstrates the commitment of both countries to upholding the rule of law and fighting against crime.
