The Ceres community has been shaken by the tragic discovery of three women’s bodies found inside a home on Uitsig Street.
The incident came to light on Sunday, shortly after the women were seen carrying coal into the residence. Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the situation.
The South African Police Service has confirmed that an inquest docket is currently under investigation. According to police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk, post-mortem examinations will be conducted to determine the cause of death. As of Wednesday, no additional information has been made available to the public.
The tragic event has elicited a heartfelt response from community leaders and members. Wendy Kaizer-Philander, the DA constituency head for the Witzenberg Municipality, expressed her deep sadness and extended her condolences to the affected families.
She emphasized the devastation felt by the community during this difficult time, stating, “my thoughts and prayers are with the affected families, loved ones and community at large, as they navigate through this difficult time … may their souls rest in eternal peace.”
