On Thursday night in the Polokwane CBD, a Limpopo police detective was stabbed while standing next to his vehicle. Despite his injury, he demonstrated remarkable bravery by chasing and apprehending the alleged attacker.
The incident unfolded when the officer was reportedly approached by the suspect, who then stabbed him and removed his car keys from the ignition before fleeing the scene.
Despite being injured, the determined detective managed to chase down the suspect. A physical altercation followed, during which the community quickly responded to the commotion and came to the officer’s aid.

With their assistance, the suspect was successfully apprehended, and the injured officer was transported to the hospital.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba commended the community for their prompt and helpful response. A case of theft out of a motor vehicle and attempted murder is currently under investigation.
Limpopo Police Commissioner Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe condemned the “barbaric acts of violence” against police officers and praised the community’s positive response. Commissioner Hadebe assured that the suspect would face the full might of the law for his actions.
