Police in KwaZulu-Natal have launched a manhunt for at least four suspects involved in a tragic shooting incident on Gillham Road, Phoenix.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday morning, 8 August 2024, left four security guards dead and another injured.
According to the information available at this stage, the suspects were travelling in a red Toyota Tazz.
They exited their vehicle and opened fire on the security guards who were reportedly performing their duties at an unspecified office. The shooting resulted in the instant death of four guards, while the fifth guard was rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
The nature of the business conducted at the office remains unclear. However, it is suspected that the assailants also robbed the victims of their firearms before fleeing the scene.
The police are appealing for any information regarding the suspects’ whereabouts or the motive behind the killings. Those with information are urged to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number 08600 10111. Alternatively, tips can be submitted through the MySAPS app.
