The incident occurred when Thembeka Sikhosana, who suffered from a heart condition, was left behind by the ambulance on Sunday.

According to reports, the paramedics allegedly refused to transport her to the ambulance due to a staircase and insisted that her family members carry her instead.

It is further alleged that while her relatives were in the process of carrying her, the paramedics drove away, claiming that they were being too slow and wasting their time.

Mbalenhle Sikhosana, Thembeka’s sister, expressed their demand for justice not only for her sister but also for others who could potentially lose their lives due to such uncaring paramedics.

She firmly stated that the paramedics should be fired for the distressing treatment they subjected her sister to. Mbalenhle questioned what would have happened if her sister had passed away.

Mbalenhle explained that the family had called for an ambulance at around 7 pm, and after two hours, the paramedics called to ask for directions. Another 45 minutes later, they called again, this time inquiring about the patient’s whereabouts.

“When I received the call, I went outside and informed them that she was inside the house and that we couldn’t lift her ourselves due to the steps. It was just me and my sister’s 12-year-old son. I asked them if that wasn’t part of a paramedic’s duty,” Mbalenhle recounted.

“They shouted at me, claiming that it wasn’t their responsibility and threatened to leave her behind if we couldn’t carry her to the ambulance. I then asked the neighbors for assistance in carrying her. While we were making our way to the ambulance, they complained that we were wasting their time and taking too long. They ultimately drove away, stating that they were too busy to wait for us,” she added.

Mbalenhle also mentioned that after taking pictures of the ambulance and sharing them on Facebook, some individuals arrived in a car, claiming they had seen the post and were instructed to take her sister to the hospital. She additionally revealed that her sister had been born with a heart condition.
