Joburg Emergency Services (EMS) is currently conducting a search for two bodies that were washed away at the Kliprivier stream.
The incident occurred on Saturday night during a cleansing ceremony. The victims, aged 18 and 21 years old, have yet to be found.
This unfortunate event follows the recent recovery of an 18-year-old’s body in a river stream in Soweto on Wednesday after he drowned.
These incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of ensuring the safety of congregants during cleansing or baptism rituals.
EMS spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, has urged traditional healers, prophets, and pastors to take necessary precautions to prevent such tragedies from occurring.
Safety should always be the top priority when conducting these ceremonies.
The search operation is ongoing, with EMS working tirelessly to locate the missing bodies. The community is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any relevant information to the authorities.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time. We hope for a swift resolution to this tragic situation.
