In a chilling turn of events, a police investigation into an alleged extortion ring in Cape Town resulted in a lethal shoot-out. Four men were shot dead, and four others were wounded during this intense confrontation.
According to national police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the eight suspects were purportedly on their way to commit a mass shooting.

The incident unfolded on Thursday evening in Milnerton when the suspects, travelling in a minibus, were sighted by a task team that had been investigating intelligence about wanted alleged extortionists.
Preliminary reports indicate that the suspects opened fire on the police who were trailing their vehicle. The officers returned fire, resulting in the deaths of four suspects and serious injuries to four others. The wounded suspects, all from Cape Town and aged 23, 30, 34, and 38, are currently under police guard in a medical facility.
Western Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Novella Potelwa stated that four firearms and rounds of ammunition were confiscated from the vehicle. She also mentioned that as the police continue to comb the scene and investigate further, additional details are expected to emerge.
