A campaign has been launched to assist Phakamani Sibiya, a 33-year-old victim of gender-based violence.

Sibiya endured a horrific attack in April 2022, where he was sprayed with acid, subjected to an enema using harmful “holy water,” and forced to drink unknown substances, causing immense pain and burning.

The emotional toll is evident as well, as he avoids looking at himself in the mirror and refrains from taking pictures.

The Themba Njilo Foundation has stepped in to support Sibiya in his journey towards recovery. Recognising the importance of encouraging him to embrace his true self, the foundation is helping him raise funds for the necessary surgery, estimated to cost around R800,000.
