At least 10 passengers have lost their lives in a devastating accident involving an Mzansi Express bus. The accident occurred at 3 miles on the N1 freeway near Makhado, previously known as Louis Trichardt, in the Limpopo province.
The bus was travelling from Zimbabwe to Johannesburg when this unfortunate event took place on Tuesday evening.

According to Phuti Lekganyane, the acting spokesperson for the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, the bus was en route to Johannesburg from Zimbabwe just before midnight on Tuesday, August 27.
Unexpectedly, the bus drove over a roundabout at high speed. As a result, the driver lost control, causing the bus to overturn. Tragically, ten passengers, consisting of five males and five females, all foreign nationals, lost their lives.
Limpopo provincial transport authorities have reported that the bus driver was new to the job and unfamiliar with the road.

In the wake of the incident, the scene has been cleared, and the injured passengers were swiftly taken to various hospitals in Makhado for medical assistance. This event has raised serious concerns about road safety and driver training, particularly for long-distance routes.
Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye, expressed her deep sorrow over the loss of lives. She conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and emphasized the importance of road safety.
Furthermore, she urged all motorists to remain vigilant and drive with utmost caution at all times to prevent such tragedies in the future.
