Around 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, the remains of a woman were discovered in a freezer on Jeff Masimola Street in Samora Machel, Cape Town.
According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Samora Machel police are investigating a murder case. On Tuesday, a 45-year-old man was detained and appeared in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court.
According to IOL, Brian Miripiri is suspected of murdering his girlfriend, Busisiwe Mthethwa, 56. Her body was discovered in a freezer at her home in Samora Machel.
She was last heard from two days before Miripiri was detained. He allegedly informed individuals close to her that she had travelled to the Eastern Cape.
Miripiri’s relatives, on the other hand, were apparently informed that she was selling her belongings.
The State says police found him at Mthethwa’s home. “The police who attended the scene said it was like a fight had occurred. He told the police he hadn’t seen her for two days. They found the victim’s body in the chest freezer. He was then arrested. The State doesn’t have bail information.”
Miripiri is scheduled to appear in court again on 9 January.
