In an incident at Lepelle (Olifants) River in Limpopo, the remains of a 48-year-old man from Atok were discovered on Tuesday, surrounded by crocodiles.
The man had drowned on Sunday during a prayer service, which took place at the overflowing river. According to the police, three individuals, referred to as “prophets,” had gone to the river for a prayer session.

During the prayers, one of the prophets suddenly encountered difficulties and tragically drowned in the crocodile-infested river. It is suspected that he was attacked by crocodiles during the baptism ceremony. Despite the efforts of the other two men to search for him, they were unable to locate him.

Acting Limpopo police commissioner Maj-Gen Jan Scheepers urged communities to exercise caution and refrain from endangering their lives by partaking in swimming or spiritual practices in such risky environments.
