Netflix Glitches As Stranger Things Season 5 Drops, Leaving Viewers Frustrated

Netflix briefly went down for what appeared to be thousands of users just as the highly anticipated first four episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 arrived on the platform.

Downdetector began registering a surge in outage reports roughly ten minutes before 8PM Eastern Time, the scheduled release moment.

Reports climbed rapidly, peaking at nearly 14,000 before gradually declining as the issue resolved. For many, the timing could not have been worse as fans rushed to stream the opening chapters of the final showdown in Hawkins.

According to Entertainment Weekly, viewers encountering problems were met with the NSEZ-403 error, preventing their accounts from connecting to the service.

Screens displayed messages including “Something went wrong” and “Sorry, we’re having trouble with your request.” Netflix notes that switching to another device may help when this specific error appears.

Netflix told Engadget that “some members briefly experienced an issue streaming on TVs,” adding that the problem was fixed for all accounts within five minutes.
