Netflix SA Turns Thabo Bester Scandal Into Drama- Mzansi Already Hooked

Netflix SA is refusing to give us breathing space this year. Just as we’re still recovering from bingeing Fatal Seduction season 2, the streamer pulled a shocker — announcing their brand-new show, Beauty and the Bester.
The announcement dropped on Tuesday, 19 August 2025, and social media went into overdrive. The show dives deep into the dramatic fall of once-celebrated “doctor to the stars” Nandipha Magudumana, whose glitzy life went up in smoke when she got tangled with convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester.
Netflix teased the release with a post that read: “Once a celebrated doctor to the stars, Nandipha Magudumana, now finds herself in a scandal that has turned her life upside down. The trailer for Beauty and the Bester drops tomorrow.”

Fans React To Beauty And The Bester
Mzansi wasted no time flooding the comments, and the reactions? Pure gold.
@NeleIsMyName asked: “Chomi, is it a documentary or a series? It looks interesting.”
@Arnold_Von_Mash wrote: “Ooooh this looks interesting.”
@Aukword2 didn’t hold back: “Finds herself? No, she fell in love with a convicted demon and helped him escape by organising another family’s deceased loved one’s body as a decoy. To free a rapist. Throw her away, too.”
@vickyvaren came through with some skepticism: “Is there anything new? This one was well covered, still fresh in our minds. Courts are still ongoing. Nothing juicy is gonna be revealed.”
@clearazzcrystal added: “I’ll never understand how Nandipha decided being a celebrity doctor that’s married to a paediatrician wasn’t enough.”

Netflix SA’s Winning Formula
Love it or hate it, one thing is clear — Netflix knows how to keep South Africans talking. From fictional thrillers to real-life scandals, the platform has us in a chokehold, and Beauty and the Bester is about to add more petrol to the fire.
