Nelisa Mchunu Returns To ‘Uzalo’ As Fikile — With Mondli Nkomo And Jamy Lee Simons Joining The Cast

South Africa’s most-watched TV show, Uzalo, is turning up the drama with exciting casting news. Fan-favourite Nelisa Mchunu makes her highly anticipated return as Fikile, while Mondli Nkomo and Jamy Lee Simons bring fresh energy to the hit SABC1 telenovela.
After a four-year break, Fikile returns to KwaMashu, and her comeback promises fireworks. Last seen leaving Sbu heartbroken, her reappearance reopens old wounds — and possibly old flames.

“What to expect from my character’s return is the same Beyoncé energy and wild ride between the old Fikile and the new Sbu,” Nelisa teased.

She added, “My sentiments are that Uzalo will always be my first home. What I learnt being on Uzalo has stayed with me as I’ve grown and reached new heights in my career. I’ll be reconnecting with people I’ve known for years, and I’m excited to meet the new team members.”
Fans can catch her comeback on September 24.
Nelisa Mchunu is Not Alone; Jamy Lee Simons Joins as Joanne Davids
Newcomer Jamy Lee Simons steps into the role of Joanne Davids, a glamorous yet emotionally scarred mother whose arrival is set to shake KwaMashu.
Joanne, the mother of Ashley (Nkazimulo’s girlfriend), enters the storyline on September 4 — right in the middle of high-stakes drama following Nkazimulo’s kidnapping. Once a wild party girl, Joanne’s spark was dimmed by her strict religious husband, Brandon. But everything changes when she crosses paths with the dangerously charismatic Nkunzi.
“I am beyond ecstatic to be working with such a beautiful group of people in a wonderfully charged environment,” Jamy Lee shared.

She added, “Everyone, from the catering to the directors and staff, is wonderful. The cast and crew have brought out the best in me with their energy, and I am beyond grateful. Joanne is an intriguing character navigating through life with a feisty persona. She has a lot of personality, however it appears that over the years the light inside her has been dimmed.”
Mondli Nkomo Introduces Mr Dongwe
Also joining the cast is Mondli Nkomo, who makes his Uzalo debut as Mr Dongwe. While details of his character remain under wraps, teasers suggest he will play a pivotal role in upcoming storylines.
Don’t miss a moment — Uzalo airs weeknights on SABC1 at 8:30 PM.
