Ndimande Brothers Return To Court For Bail Hearing In AKA Murder Case

The bail application of the two Ndimande brothers, accused in connection with the murder of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motshoane, is scheduled to be heard in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning.

Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande had earlier abandoned their bid for bail but later informed the court, through their legal representatives, that they would proceed with a fresh application.

Forbes and Motshoane were shot and killed outside a restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road in February 2023, in a case that drew widespread public attention.

Bail Application Developments In AKA Murder Case

The Ndimande brothers were extradited from Eswatini last year before being transferred in January to the Ebongweni Super Maximum Correctional Facility in Kokstad.

Their detention at the high-security facility was reportedly due to safety concerns.

However, their legal representative, Advocate Sibusiso Dlamini, has indicated plans to apply for their relocation to Westville Prison in Durban.

Legal Concerns Over Prison Transfer And Consultation Access

Dlamini argued that the distance between Kokstad and Durban has made it difficult for the accused to consult with him. He also raised concerns that their meetings take place in the presence of guards.

In addition to the charges linked to the deaths of Forbes and Motshoane, the brothers are also facing multiple other charges.

These include murder allegations connected to the killing of a taxi boss in Amanzimtoti.
